How to Lose Weight Without Diet Pills

There isn't really a great secret with natural weight loss, just to eat properly (not too much) and of course get regular exercise; this guidance is lost on many! This should be an easy concept for the many overweight people around the world; with over a third of Americans, and millions in other countries who are gradually catching up, it obviously isn't that easy! Despite this, most of these overweight people want to be trim again although it is probably more for cosmetic reasons than those related to their health.

The truth is it is easier to maintain your weight than it is to lose excess pounds and the heavier you become the harder the weight loss becomes. Even though many people know this subconsciously very few actually plan to ensure that weight gain doesn't happen to them.

For some reason even when dieters who have become used to, and enjoy, a low calorie diet, they eventually drift back to old habits and start piling the pounds back on again. You can maintain your weight through natural weight loss methods and even if being at the center of unwanted attention doesn't convince you, surely your health should.

The truth is there is a huge price to pay with your health when you are overweight and in particular, clinically obese. The basics of eating correctly whilst maintaining a healthy weight is not all that complicated, in fact most people know pretty well what is best and that is losing weight naturally.

If you are planning to use a natural weight loss approach then its success will depend on the meals you eat which should be low in fat, high in fiber, some protein and carbohydrates. A meal containing this group would be something like a baked potato, vegetables and some meat, lean of course but it would not contain gravy or sour cream.

The problem is calories from dietary fat can be high and have a tendency to be retained by the body which is something that doesn't happen when excess calories are consumed with other foods. Manufacturers have realized that there is a huge market for low-fat or even fat-free products but the propensity and popularity of these foods are not lowering the average weight of the nation.

Whilst completely false, the perception is that you can basically eat exactly what you want provided it is fat-free but there are still calories in the food which can easily be converted to body fat. This is a trap that many people fall into and forget it's about eating from the correct food groups, and if you have to snack make it a small healthy one.

Health experts say it would be better to try eating every three to four hours, which may mean a nutritious low-fat snack between lunch and dinner. It's not always easy to lose weight, but if you take the time and focus on natural weight loss through sensible, controlled eating and exercise you will achieve lasting results.

Types Of Vitamins Nutrional Supplement

Vitamins are a nutritional supplement they're as important to us as, food, shelter and water. Since many people unknowingly miss out on vital nutrients in their diet on a day to day basis, taking a few seconds a day to add vitamins to your daily intake becomes the foundation for good health.

Over 30 published research articles conclude, that all adults can benefit from taking a multivitamin daily to help in maintaining: cardiovascular, bone and breast tissue, immune defense system, colon health-especially in people who consume alcohol, cholesterol and homocysteine levels. It also improves circulatory and blood vessel health. What about you? Are you getting the right amounts of all the right nutrients.

When choosing a multivitamin it should at least provide the basic daily requirements of vitamins and minerals your body needs each day. It should also include antioxidants, nutrients such as Vitamin A (beta carotene), Vitamin C, E and selenium, also look for a multivitamin with plenty of Vitamin B (folic acid) and trace minerals (including zinc).

Here is some basic knowledge on vitamins as a nutritional supplement, what they do for you (benefits) and where they are found (5 basic food groups).

Vitamin A: Important for healthy teeth , bones, eyes and skin. Found in eggs, meat, milk, cheese, liver and fish.

Vitamin B1 Thiamin: Helps the body change carbohydrates into energy, also essential for heart functions and healthy nerve cells. Found in whole grains, soy beans, peas, liver, lean cuts of pork, seeds and nuts.

Vitamin B2 Riboflavin: Important for body growth and production of red blood cells. Found in dairy products, lean meat, poultry, fish, grains and dark green vegetables.

Vitamin B3 Niacin: Helps maintain healthy skin, nerves and lowers cholesterol. Found in foods rich in protein, liver, meat and peanuts.

Vitamin B5 Pantothenic acid: Essential for metabolism plays a role in the production of hormones and cholesterol. Found in eggs, lier, skim milk, yeast, lean beef and sweet potatoes.

Vitamin B6 Pyridoxine: Helps form red blood cells and maintain brain function. Found in fortified cereals, beans, meat, poultry, fish and some fruits and vegetables.

Vitamin B7 Biotin: Essential for the metabolism of protein and carbohydrates and in the production of hormones and cholesterol, Found in vegetables and whole grains.

Vitamin B9 Folate: Helps build red blood cells especially important for pregnant women. Found in green leafy vegetables.

Vitamin B12 Cobalamin: Important for metabolism, helps form red blood cells and maintains the central nervous system. Naturally found in foods that come from animals, including fish, meat, poultry ,eggs, milk and fortified cereals.

Vitamin C Ascorbic acid: Promotes healthy teeth and gums also helps the body absorb iron and maintain healthy tissue and promotes wound healing. Found in fruit and vegetables, citrus fruits and juices, white potatoes, sweet potatoes and cantaloupe.

Vitamin D: Promotes the body's absorption of calcium which is important for healthy teeth and bones. Found in fortified milk, fatty fish and fish oil.

Vitamin E Tocopherol: An antioxidant that plays a role in formation of red blood and helps promote a healthy heart and prostate. Found in nuts, green leafy vegetables

Vitamin K: Essential for blood coagulation and it helps promote bone health. Found in green leafy vegetables and some vegetable oils.

With all this knowledge of what to eat and how to get all your essential vitamins, people still will not eat the proper foods. Not surprisingly, a recent study published in the journal of the American Dietetic Association concluded that adolescents who use multivitamins are more likely to have better nutrition than nonusers. Thus good nutrition plays a major role in growing up healthy and reducing health risks during adulthood

The United States Congress agrees that multivitamins can indeed promote good health. They have recently passed an act regarding multivitamin use and older Americans. In the 2006 Congress officially stated that good nutrition is vital to good health, and that vitamins as a nutritional supplement is an acceptable method of maintaining good nutrition and health.

40% of older adults are actually malnourished. Why? Because as adults get older, their bodies become less and less able to use and absorb vitamins and minerals. so like teens, aging adults are also more apt to have nutrient deficiencies.

While a balanced diet remains the ideal source of nutrition for all Americans, taking a daily multivitamin is an inexpensive way of preventing nutritional deficiencies and ensuring good health among aging populations. Although Congress's act specifically targets older adults, multivitamins can help satisfy nutrient requirements in people of all ages.

Between eating properly and taking one of the GNC's Multivitamin Formulas, this will help in taking good care of you and your body's needs!

Body Building Tips for Teens

Teenage body builders are becoming more and more common. And why not? Getting ripped is a great way to improve your self-esteem, get the respect of your peers, attract the girls (a big motivator for most teenage guys) and give you a healthy interest. It's also a good way to find an older man to mentor you in more than just body building. And besides, if you're considering a career that involves a lot of muscular strength, having a good set of muscles will count in your favour at the interview and help you in your job. I'm not just talking pro bodybuilding or sport as a career, either. Military, police, firefighting, construction, forestry, security and agriculture are all career areas where the muscular strength and mental discipline developed by teen body building will all be a real asset (and even if you want to be a teacher, body building can help. Wouldn't you have had some serious respect for a teacher who had body builder muscles?). The teen years have some advantages when it comes to body building. During this stage of life, your male hormones (androgen and testosterone) are at a naturally high level like they will be at no other stage in your life. What's more, your HGH (human growth hormone) levels are also peaking right now. Older bodybuilders have to take supplements to get the levels you already have. Your body wants to pack on muscle as you transition from being a boy to being a man, so let your instincts rip and get ripped! Top tips:

Don't take steroids

They are illegal and will do your body serious damage. You will get caught. Period. Eat well. You've heard your mom bang on about "eat up your meat/greens/potatoes to grow big and strong" when you were little. She's right. To build big, powerful muscles, you will need to eat right. Avoid takeout foods and eat plenty of good food ' complex carbs like wholemeal and potatoes (and popcorn), lean protein, fresh fruit and veggies. During the teen years, you will naturally crave proteins, so maybe consider protein supplements so you don't eat the cupboards bare every day. A-Z Nutrition has a range of protein supplements like shakes and bars at low prices that will suit a teen's budget ' you'll be better spending your money here than at fast food outlets. Just hide them from your little sister ' they taste great!

Balanced workouts

At your age, focussing on just one body part per workout is a bad idea. You can put some serious strain on your bones and joints that you will regret in later years. Go for whole body workouts at this stage. You won't be a teen for long ' the "chest on Monday, back on Wednesday, legs on Friday" type of workout is for when you're out of this initial stage.

Aerobics

Yes, you will see the older body builders standing around and resting in between sets and exercises. However, you can overdo the rest times. It is important to boost your cardiovascular fitness as well as your strength, as this increases stamina and bloodflow. As you are doing a whole body workout at your age, you should do some cardio daily. Try running or cycling, or use some of the cardio-type machines at the gym. Supplements. You will not need any of the dietary supplements designed to raise your testosterone level or HGH levels, as these are already at a peak at levels that the older guys envy. The one exception to this one is the zinc products, as zinc helps with skin problems such as acne as well as overall health. Stick to basics such as multivitamins and protein supplements. Coaching

A good coach will show you how to lift right so you don't injure yourself. He/she will also be there with good advice regarding diet and nutrition, exercise plans and other tips. If you absolutely can't afford a pro coach, then find an older guy at the gym who looks like a serious bodybuilder to act as your mentor. He'll be flattered, so don't be shy.

Stretch

You will need to be flexible and you will need to warm up your muscles before doing weights or any exercise. Do plenty ' this is one exercise you can't overdo.

First things first

Before you start pumping iron, pump yourself. Start off with push ups, chin ups and dips before moving onto the metal. What's more you can do these anywhere and they're a good way to impress your buddies at school.

Time

Your workouts should be less than an hour. At your stage of development, an intense workout should be over in 20-30 minutes. If you are not exhausted by this stage, then you are not working out intensively enough. Go all the way. When using weights, aim to use the full range of motion. You may see more advanced bodybuilders using only a half range occasionally, but this is for advanced strength training only. Teens need to be able to work all their muscles, ligaments, joints and bones throughout the entire movement. So no cheating or excuses.
